My Project

I have a class of kind, funny, happy kids. I would like to add 2-3 gentle female rats to our classroom.

Having pets in the classroom will teach my students the responsibility of caring for living beings.

My students will learn to clean the cage/habitat, make sure the rats have nutritious, fresh food, and clean water.

Some of my students have never had a pet animal, so this will be their first experience with taking care of another creature.

Having rats in our classroom will enrich our learning as we dive into understanding animal habitats by giving my students living creatures to watch and study.

Students that have trouble connecting with peers often find comfort in handling gentle animals. Having rats in our class can be a bridge for a shy student to find the confidence to connect with others.
