My Students

"How can I bring more technology to our classroom?" I kept asking myself this question. My students love technology and with such diversity in my class, I was looking for more ways to help them learn. We were so fortunate when a company donated 6 iPads to us. Now,we just need to make sure they last!

My students are caring, kind, smart individuals from all over the world.

My school is an urban, high poverty elementary. Several of my students speak more than one language and I have several students who are below grade level for their reading. These students work hard and sometimes are also helping their parents learn English as well. Our school population is very large and my classroom has 27 students. There is a great need to take precautions to make sure the iPads that we have will last for several years to reach several students.

My Project

Our iPads and supplies can help us to play instructional games during centers, use apps to learn, have access to thousands of online books and have access to learning about cultures of students in our classroom. Our iPads can help us learn math facts in a fun creative way and use the keyboards to learn typing. We need help keeping our iPads charged and safely stored. We need to protect our iPads in case they get dropped and our screens from being damaged. The cases, screen protectors, keyboards and a store and charge station will help us to use this technology for a many years.

My students have already learned that there are good people out there that care about the progress they make in our classroom.

We have also been able to discuss what a community means and how people can work together to achieve goals. This has been an amazing learning experience for my class (and myself) already. I think that these students feel that they are worth investing in and that people outside of our classroom care about them. Please help to keep this chain of kindness moving forward!
