My Students

My school counseling program benefits all K-5 students and supports growth in the areas of academics, social/emotional, and careers.

I just finished my 6th year as a school counselor.

I was recently named Elementary School Counselor of the Year by the Palmetto State School Counselor Association. While I am very proud of the work I have done so far to support student success, I would like to improve in the area of data.

My Project

I am requesting funding to complete an online professional development course through ASCA U (American State School Counselor Association University) and one of the required books. The training is titled "School Counseling Data Specialist" and will result in a certificate in this area of specialization. Why is data important in school counseling? Collecting and analyzing data can help school counselors and their administrators identify achievement gaps, understand educational issues and assess programs to ensure they are making a difference for all students. My school counseling program benefits ALL students and supports growth in the areas of academics, social/emotional, and careers. I hope to use data to strengthen my program goals, monitor student progress to close the achievement gap, assess and evaluate my program, and demonstrate school counseling program effectiveness.

For my school counseling program to be considered a pivotal and valued resource to my school's learning environment, I must commit to formulating and executing services that link my work to the instructional mission and concretely demonstrate accountability for student academic success.

Receiving this training and certification will allow me to do so. ALL students K-5 benefit from my school counseling program and using data-driven practices will make my program highly effective.
