This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach at a school in an economically disadvantaged area. Each one of my students is awesome and has a story to tell. They are rich in culture and traditions; they are filled with passion and eager to learn more each day. They also teach me, I learn something new from them every day. The most important lesson I've learned as an educator is that it is my responsibility to help raise the consciousness of my students and provide them with opportunities to grow in their community. I want to teach these children to give them a better future.

My goal is to create a classroom that is engaging and supports their learning.

Because math is not the most favored of subjects, ensuring my students are motivated, engaged, and supported in their learning is crucial. One way to engage students is by providing quality resources that address their needs, such as those we will purchase with the gift card.

By donating, you are helping me provide resources to underprivileged students, and giving them the chance to learn at their fullest potential. Additionally, I am a new 2nd grade teacher; I will greatly benefit from the items listed below in multiple projects as well as throughout the school year. For example, the gigantic magnetic number bond is a visual aid that will benefit and enhance the learning experience for visual learners. As well, students in my classroom at times cannot afford essential items such as pencils, providing them to my students allows them and their parents to have fewer stressors.
