This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Hello, My name is Ms.Katy. I work with a 6:1:1 bilingual special needs classroom. I work with children with multiple disabilities who love to read and look at books. We currently have one bean bag that they all love to use while in our library. Influencing them to read and discover the beauty of reading and using their imagination is my goal. While my students learn in both English and Spanish influencing them to be completely fluent verbally and academically is our goal. My students' ages range from 5-10. Often we read together or independently. Daily the students pick a book from the library to take home to complete their reading logs but we also visit our classroom library daily. Students take turns using the one bean bag that we have but I would love for each of them to have one so we can read together and feel comfortable and excited during this experience.

We could utilize these bean bags not only during reading but also during circle time or any academic learning experience.

Often students, especially students with special needs, need differentiated instruction. This would be an exciting new addition to our classroom.

I would like to share with you a little about my angels. Some of my students have been diagnosed with Down Syndrome or autism, are emotionally disturbed, or have cerebral palsy. One thing I do want you all to know is that they are the most amazing and driven children. I am blessed to teach them daily and see how much they have learned and continue to want to learn. Thank you all for the beautiful contributions you make to all these children. Ms. Katy and YM1 appreciate you always.
