If virtual learning has taught us nothing else, we've learned the benefits of technology in education. Student-led productions will be a focus in the Dance Department this year and we'd like for our students to have the equipment to produce quality work.
From lighting design to videography, we will learn the professional skills necessary to produce our own shows but also make Dance accessible to all audiences.
Students are currently studying Dance Composition. Soon they will focus on tools to help convey their messages to the audience. One way the students can emphasize intention is through lighting. Lighting can help to establish an environment, create a time period, and even focus attention on a particular area if necessary. We will continue expanding our learning by focusing on production components such as performance spaces, costumes, props, and multimedia elements culminating in a Student Choreography Showcase at the end of the school year.
Last year, our focus was on finding/creating a new normal. This year we want to share our experience with a larger audience. We want to increase our student-led productions and create new virtual dance experiences.
