My students are hardworking kids from the far south side of Chicago who are very excited to learn more about music. They love learning new instruments and have been asking about piano for the last 2 years.
They are very excited to start learning some popular songs on an accessible instrument.
They have already started figuring out some melodies to some of their favorite songs on their own with the few instruments we have. I can't wait to be able to have every student in front of an instrument.
My Project
By using portable and easy to store keyboards my middle school students will all be able to practice the keyboards at the same time without worrying about taking up too much space or taking turns on the instruments.
By having one-on-one access to the instrument students will learn quicker and enjoy class time much more.
I have a few full sized keyboards for performances and class time but with almost 30 students in each class they currently have to take turns even when doubling up on each instrument. These portable instruments will not only make instruction and rehearsal time much easier but the students will enjoy being able to practice on their own instrument.
