Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our school is excited to announce that we have reopened our sports program for the 2022-2023 school year for the first time in 15 years! This school year our students are finally having the opportunity to not only learn different sports but they also will be able to practice and join a real basketball league where they will play against other schools.

This would be the first basketball team at our school in 15 years!

The majority of our student population come from low-income families who don't have the needs to buy equipment or join a league outside of our school. Our students are super excited to finally feel a part of a real team that travels to other schools and play against students from establish teams.

Currently, our students need basketballs to practice since we have been sharing basketballs with another program. We also need new nets for the hoops in the gym since the current ones are in poor condition. Cones and the agility ladder are crucial for the drills during practice. The cushion seat is for our students who need sensory support in sitting still during games and first aid kits are needed in case of any injuries.

We are a brand new team with a lot of heart and eager to learn and play the sport but we need your help! Our school does not have the budget to supply our students with the equipment they need to not only participate in the basketball league but to practice and become better everyday!
