Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are thoughtful, passionate, and highly motivated. They're involved not only in their academics, but in many extracurricular activities such as clubs and community service. They express their interests in different ways and through different mediums. One way these diverse students have learned is through the publication of our school newspaper.

My students enjoy displaying their creativity and bringing awareness to social issues that concern their generation.

They're in touch with their community and display knowledge about nuanced subjects discussed in class. They are a group that always keeps me on my toes and they enjoy tackling the tough questions that are present in our society. On a daily basis, I learn from them as much as they learn from me.

My Project

The introduction of these items will help grow our school newspaper and further expand our reach as a club. We are a small school and just started our school publication last year. Being at a conservation high school, we pride ourselves on the fact that our newspaper is digital and completely paperless. The use of this camera will add flare to our publication and encourage more students to join our club.

With this camera and flash memory card, we can exercise some of the same skills real life journalists do in the field.

We would be able to take pictures and record school related activities, use for articles outside of school, and for interviews as well. These products will help students gain experience and help them make decisions about their own career choices.
