Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come to me as essential non-readers. In addition, 96% of the students I work with are free and reduced lunch. Many of them have deficits in language stemming from their disability or from English being their second language.

At our school, we call ourselves Simmarano's Samurais because we are warriors who will stop at nothing to learn how to read.

We are multicultural and we are magnificent. Each individual grouping has fostered a genuine, true-blue support system so that these kiddos can work together in the general education classroom to achieve success together. They can count on each other not for answers, but to remind each other of their inner power-learned strategies and experiences acquired during our time together.

My Project

These materials like highlighters, colored pens, crayons, place markers etc...will enhance each student’s ability to access the general curriculum, improve problem solving skills, and allow the application of learned strategies in an effort to develop a life-long independent learner. By the end of our time together, it is my hope that the students are resourceful, mindful learners.

Your donation will help with the day-to-day functions of my classroom from Day 1 to Day 180.

This will be my 10th year teaching and these supplies are essential in helping my students achieve academic and emotional success. Each included item is research-based to help not only students with Learning Disability, but also students in the general education setting. They are materials used to facilitate best practice to teach the whole-child.
