Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As we trudge through the dark winter months, please help bring some light to my students' lives by brightening up our learning environment with some color and some fresh book titles on our shelves! For this project, I am requesting visual support in order to strengthen my students' grammatical skills, as well as books to start a speech room library.

Our goal is to give students the tools they need to build language skills so that they can best express themselves verbally and in writing; in order to build grammatical skills to best express themselves, the speech students at LACJ are in need of visual support to remind them what the parts of speech are!

We are also in need of a few copies of the books that the students use in their English classes to ensure the carryover of speech goals into the classroom setting. I am hoping to eventually create a library of a variety of curriculum-relevant and reading-for-pleasure books so that I can lend books to students and foster a love for reading. In this phase of the library, I am looking to fill my shelves with curriculum content books to use during speech sessions so that students can target their speech goals through materials they find in the classroom.

I am thankful for anything you can contribute to help enrich the student experience of our students with disabilities this winter!
