My Students

I get to see over 85 students enter and exit my room each school day! Most of these students depend on me to supply them with the necessities to get through a typical day.

Typical would not be a word used to describe my students .

. . but then again, I am not sure I have ever met or taught the typical student. Do they even exist? My school is a Title I school with 78% of our students on free or reduced lunch. We face struggles daily with not having enough or any school supplies.

My Project

Each day, my students waste important class time sharpening pencils. Something as simple as an electric pencil sharpener would cut prep time down drastically. My students do not have personal pencil sharpeners, so they must use sharpeners I provide. The one we currently have is old and dull. The organizer would also be used to as a way to keep work separated between my five classes. Locating and retrieving notebooks and classwork from the previous day also takes time that ideally would be used learning. This would also decrease the frequent misplacement of science notebooks because students are currently responsible for for keeping up with their own each day/evening. We would have a perfect place to store these over night with the organizer.

My classroom is considered a safe, comfortable learning environment and second home to my students.

Any donation is appreciated in improving this environment for students who truly deserve it. I believe that having nice supplies can inspire them to do their best and work hard.
