Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a second grade teacher at a school in the Bronx. My students come from a low socio-economic background. My students need help telling time on analog clocks. My students rely heavily on digital clocks and are therefore struggling to learn time on analog clocks. Their main difficulty comes with understanding the hour/minute hand relationship. We are working on the concept that the hour hand begins to fall between two numbers once the time is past o'clock. This idea is difficult for my students to understand without the proper student clocks on which to practice. My students need gear clocks that maintain the proper hour/minute hand relationship. My whole class (19 students) will use these during lessons, during independent practice time, and math game time. These gear clocks will greatly help my students learn to tell time.
