My Students
Its back to school time, and our supply of glazes is at rock bottom. The rest of our ceramic studio is well stocked, and without glazes these pieces of art cannot be completed.
My urban 4-8th grade students attend a school with an arts based curriculum.
Working in clay is one of their favorite genres/media to work with. They are a great and lively bunch of kids, and our school is a typical urban institution that is action packed, full of life and seriously under resourced.
My Project
We need a variety of glazes for their finished ceramic artworks. We can really study ceramics with the final step of glazing. The glazes I'm requesting represent a range of finishes, appropriate to a range of projects and personal expression. These materials will greatly expand the range of learning that my students will be able to explore. Without them, their work will not be complete. Completing work motivates students to grow as artists, and go onto their next piece. The glazes I'm requesting will inspire and motivate my students.
Many of my students do not have access to working in clay and its very gratifying to be able to expand what they can experience and explore as young artists.
