My Project

Within this project are various sensory toys and fidgets to help provide my students with outlets for their energy, calming resources and a quiet welcomed distraction outside of their phones. Students in our schools are now required to have their phones placed in yondr bags, which is a great way to end phone related distractions. However, a lot of my students rely greatly on their phones to regulate and self soothe.

The goal of this project is to help show students different methods of self-soothing and regulating they can use outside of being on their phones.

In addition, some of the items will help maintain a calm and inviting classroom environment they feel comfortable to learn in. As studies show, students who feel safe and comfortable in their learning environment have higher levels of retention and academic achievement. Additionally, as we continue to adapt to the needs of our students my goal as a teacher is to provide them with as many optional tools as possible in order to help them grow as learners.
