Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Many of my students are on the Autistic spectrum and others have a wide range of skill with both social-emotional and behavioral challenges. I want to help these students to feel safe, calm and engaged by providing the sensory stimulation they are seeking.

Recently, I finished a course on ASD students and how to better understand and meet their needs- I am hopeful that having access to these supplies will benefit my students.

Many of my students enjoy art and the chance to express their feelings and emotions, some have a hard time sitting and focusing on their work. I want to create a more inviting space that has more sensory and adaptive opportunities for my students. Alleviating meltdowns, easing struggles will make transitions and class time go smoother. having access to weighted toys, fidgets and adaptive art supplies will be key in helping my classroom become a more welcoming place for all my students.
