My Students

In our fourth grade classroom, we start off every morning with a warm hello and friendly wave. It has always been important to me to instill a sense of family within our classroom to create a caring and safe environment. Many of my students carry the burden of difficult personal lives upon entering the school building. They work super hard and they are eager and excited to learn. Therefore, it is even more important to create an environment where the students feel ownership, safety, and care.

The majority of my students are learning English as a new language.

As learners of the new language, many of my students translate for their parents and grandparents at home. They carry a big responsibility of not only learning the language to advance their own academic careers but also helping their own families.

As a classroom teacher, it is my job to advocate for my hardworking and incredibly deserving students. I would love to have an opportunity to provide the materials for my students to provide them with everything they need in order to succeed in school.

My Project

This year has been more challenging than ever. Students are coming into the classroom every day carrying the burden of uncertain times. With COVID restrictions, there is less access to physical books for students to read. Books are being quarantined and wiped down between each child using them. There are fewer books in rotation and fewer books in our students hands.

Help my students escape the uncertain times and dive into the world of their books!

As a school, we foster a love for reading. There’s nothing better than picking up a new book and experiencing the world through a new characters eyes. With your help, you can give my students endless possibilities for imagination, curiosity, and creativity. In turn, they will be able to build the skills they need in order to succeed.
