This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am Mrs. Carenza, a kindergarten teacher at a Title 1 school in the Bronx. I work tirelessly throughout the school year to make sure my students are learning our state standards, getting the exposure they need to succeed in future grades and learning important social emotional skills. Then comes the "summer slide."

Many students have very few learning opportunities over the summer and research has shown that students lose skills, particularly in reading and math.

I wanted to provide them with a learning tool that could help prevent or lessen the "summer slide."

The workbooks that I am asking for provide practice in reading and math and prepare them for first grade. Would you kindly help me provide the support my students need over the summer?
