My name is Lucia Alcacio, and I am a teacher where I have the privilege of working with a group of 4th graders who are very enthusiastic and hardworking students.
As an educator, I am always looking for ways to inspire positive behavior, increase motivation, and build a supportive classroom environment where all students can thrive. One of the most effective tools I’ve found for achieving this is implementing a behavior reward system that celebrates students’ efforts and accomplishments.
I would like to create a system of “Behavior Treasure Prizes” that will encourage students to stay on track, demonstrate respect for themselves and others, and maintain a positive attitude toward their learning. These treasure prizes will be awarded to students who consistently demonstrate the qualities we value in our classroom: responsibility, kindness, hard work, and perseverance.
These prizes, including candy, fidget toys, and scented pencils, not only serve as tangible rewards for students, but they also help reinforce the idea that good behavior and effort are always worth celebrating. When students see that their positive actions are recognized, they feel more motivated to continue striving toward excellence—whether it’s in their academic work, their interactions with peers, or their overall attitude.
The impact of this reward system goes beyond just the individual students—it creates a classroom culture where everyone is encouraged to do their best and support one another. It helps students learn that their choices matter and that doing the right thing can lead to positive outcomes.
