My Project

We have a classroom with general education students and special education students. The students are first graders and are working on reading and learning how to transfer the new words and skills they are learning throughout all subject areas. The general education students are a model for the special education students and as the students learn new skills in reading we have them create their own books using those skills. Once the books are complete we make the students a copy and they keep the book in their book baggy and can read it during reading time. This reinforces reading and writing for them. The students are so proud. The students who have difficulty reading are developing confidence and sharing their books with others in the class.
