My Students

I am a preschool through fifth grade speech-language pathologist at OME. My caseload consists of a special education early childhood classroom of 20 students, two cross-categorical special education classroom containing 26 students, and several K-5 general education speech and language students.

My students are diverse learners who come from a variety of backgrounds.

We work together in small and whole groups to build the very speech and language skills needed to be successful in school and beyond.

Many of my students have additional needs, such as attention deficit, sensory-based needs, and autism. My hope for my students is that when they leave me, they are able to successfully and confidently communicate with others in and outside of the school environment. With these additional resources, I believe the communication skills of my students will continue to grow.

My Project

This project is intended to replenish our speech room with valuable materials that get our students motivated and growing, communicating, and learning. Additionally, a new curriculum for articulation (speech sound) practice is being requested for the upcoming school year to help the speech students more efficiently grow in their sound production.

Many of our youngest communicators require pictures and visuals to communicate requests or needs.

These pictures are printed in color and take time to create, print, and distribute. The laminating pouches help our pictures remain durable in little hands and the binders can store student pictures in an organized fashion.

We utilize velcro dots for a variety of activities, such as communication boards, interactive storybooks, classroom centers, and more. Additionally, these materials may be used for classroom visuals and visual schedules.

Remaining materials requested are day-to-day materials that are used to incorporate hands-on activities in to our speech & language learning (games, colored pencils, glue sticks, etc.) and stay healthy (such as cleaning wipes).
