Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a dual language 1st grade teacher in Corona, Queens. My classroom is filled with diverse learners from different cultural backgrounds. It is a big melting pot of highly motivated young explorers who love to learn. I strive to foster an environment of respect and a love for learning. I enjoy witnessing my students grow academically and socially. They constantly encourage each other to grow. Throughout the day you can hear many “good job!” and “great work!” comments on my classroom.

My Project

These beginning chapter books will help brighten up our classroom library. My students' reading levels range from A-M.

I have a group of very diverse learners with different interests.

I would love to engage them in reading books that will spark their interest.

Our school library is great but mostly stocked with books in English. My classroom library is mostly filled with lower leveled books for my students to borrow. These colorful beginning chapter books in Spanish will be a great addition to our classroom library. My hope is that they will help spark a love for reading in Spanish.
