Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach 2nd grade in the Bronx. My students are enthusiastic learners who are excited to be in school.

The children in my class are creative, thoughtful, and so inquisitive!

They are excited to have new books in their hands after learning at home for so long.

My Project

Because my students are currently reading far below grade level, my current classroom library does not have the correct books to support my readers.

Students go book shopping each week and choose books at their levels that interest them.

Because early readers are usually short, children go through them faster and need access to lots of them. I currently do not have enough books at each level to support my emergent readers and allow them to have a variety of books.

These books will be used at school during independent reading time, and at home for extra practice.
