This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My Title I school in the Bronx is in our 2nd year with a girls' softball team! We kick started our team last year and we are currently in a NYC (Bronx) league, playing against other schools. The girls were so excited and learned so much through the game of softball. They learned how to be responsible, committed and worked together as a TEAM!
The issue we have is that we don't have uniforms.
While other schools had matching softball uniforms, our girls wore leggings and a school t-shirt. Although the girls showed their pride, they wished they could look uniformed by wearing the proper sports' uniform. They are costly, so their families cannot afford them. Please help our school so the girls can have a softball uniform. If we get these uniforms, I promise you we will incorporate a learning experience to teach the rest of the school about “Lunar New Year!” Our Korean coach will surely make that happen!
