Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

We are continuing to live and learn through an extended period of stress and uncertainty. In addition to limited physical, financial, communal, and emotional resources, many of our elementary school students are also impacted by lived adverse childhood experiences. My goal is to help remove social emotional barriers to learning in order to improve the academic success of students. My students have demonstrated their enthusiasm to promote an environment that is accepting and inclusive through acts of kindness with one another.

It is my hope that they will also show kindness towards themselves and honor their feelings.

With a dedicated space and these items (Magna-Tiles, books, fidgits, balance balls, calming strategies posters and cards, etc.), students will have the opportunity to decompress and build upon their current skills in individual and group settings to advocate for their social and emotional needs within their school community.
