This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from an area of the highest poverty. Because of this, my school has limited resources for teachers in the classroom and coaches on the field. Many of my kids have never played organized sports before they come to high school. They are often not allowed to participate because of other responsibilities at home. With the girls I do get to come out and play, it is important for them to have every opportunity to see themselves and grow as athletes.

During basketball season it is important as a team to review film and analyze that film to grow, however, last season we were not able to do this.

It is difficult to grow as a basketball program and player if there is no reflection. Just as teachers do in their practice, athletes must see and reflect on their performance to grow as basketball players.

My Project

All the materials associated with this project will directly impact the performance of the girls and help them grow as players. The tripod and clip will allow steady video using the requested Sony Action Camera. I have tried using my iPad or phone to record key games only to get it back shaky and cut short because of lack of storage memory. The back up battery allows for the human error that sometimes occurs. It will allow a completely charged secondary battery to be available just in case the original battery runs out while on the road or at a game. The large memory card allows us to record and store multiple games at once. This is important just in case we are to play several games in a day or couple of days and do not have time to download all the videos in between. The warranty allows this project to be protected. It will help us maintain the integrity of the project. We will have technical support so the materials in this project are covered. All these resources will be used at games to record and be used for growth.

Recording games will transform our analysis of any given game and allow us to build our team and see mistakes to correct them for the future.

This equipment will also make it possible to record all levels within the program. This will allow all the girls in the program to grow and not just the varsity girls. My goal and the goal of the program is to develop well rounded student athletes. Lacking these resources in the past has put us at a disadvantage; however, being able to record and reflect will help us grow as a program and my girls will grow as athletes.
