This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Every student deserves a place to feel safe and have fun! Help us keep the Bryant High School badminton and table tennis club running!

William Cullen Bryant High School is an urban school in the heart of Queens.

For the first year ever, it is offering a badminton and table tennis club! This Title I school serves a diverse community. A lot of its students are recent immigrants and live below poverty. The club offers these students a place to hang out after school in a space that is safe and that promotes physical activity.

My Project

Our club meets twice a week in the school cafeteria and with over 42 members, we do not have enough rackets or shuttlecocks for all of our students to play. We have the tables for table tennis, but no rackets or balls! Although our club does not have the materials for all of its members to play, every Tuesday and Wednesday, its members show up and take turns playing badminton. If we get the material donated, these students will have the supplies they need to keep the club running and keep playing!

Donations to this project will help keep this club running with the appropriate materials.

But most importantly, each donation will give each student the opportunity to develop his or her college resume, socialize with other students in a safe setting, and allow students to be physically active.
