Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My third grade students are readers. They read every free minute, trade books with each other, and want to talk about their books with whoever will listen. The love reading and I love teaching their enthusiasm!

With this love of reading, my classroom library is the cornerstone of our classroom.

Students can independently check out books of their choice to read and take home. They read and use books from our classroom library during reading instruction. It's important to keep the library organized and easy to use so that students can find the books they love and want to read.

I use plastic bins to organize books by genre, topic, or series. As I have been teaching for so many years, some bins are cracked or broken. I am hoping to replace these storage bins with ones that are made specifically for classroom libraries. The new bins have dividers which will make book browsing easier. I am also requesting some graphic novels to help excite struggling readers.
