Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My school has recently received many new Spanish speaking students. We want to make these children feel welcome. We also want to help them learn English so they can communicate with their teachers and classmates.
The materials I am asking for will provide my new students with an opportunity to learn English vocabulary and develop their language skills.
As an English speaking teacher, I am doing all that I can to welcome them, including labeling my classroom in both English and Spanish, but it is difficult for me to find resources to help teach these students.
Transitioning to a new school, in a new place, where the majority of people around you speak a different language, can be very scary and overwhelming. My hope with these resources is to provide a sense of comfort, engagement, and fun, while also encouraging learning.
