My Project

Transitioning into 6th grade can be an extremely stressful time for students. Being in a new environment with new classmates and teachers while also dealing with hormones and constantly changing emotions can be a lot for anyone to deal with, especially a 11 year old. This will be my first year teaching middle school after teaching second grade for two years and I would really like to start off the year on the right foot making my classroom as cozy and comfortable for my students as possible. Having flexible seating, alternative lighting, and neutral calming decorations would transform my classroom from an empty space where they just come to learn science and health to an environment that they look forward to coming to. I want my classroom to be a space for students to come when they are overwhelmed to help them calm down and desensitize from everything else that is going on in their life.
