Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are high school juniors and seniors who are simultaneously excited for and terrified by the prospect of college. In order to help them prepare for the college application process, I work closely with them to not only help with the logistics of such a complicated process but provide support and motivation throughout.

My students have big plans for college and their lives.

They want to go on to become doctors, lawyers, teachers, and investment bankers. They have only a short year until they will have to navigate the world outside of the school that many of them have known since sixth grade. I want to ensure that they are given all the resources necessary for them to transition from high school to college and beyond.

My Project

My students will be heading off to college this fall. Many of them are facing the uncertainty of not knowing whether their college classes are going to be remote or in person. As we begin to help them with their transition, one thing is certain: they will need to be organized and have time management skills to help them succeed.

Giving each student a planner where they can keep track of deadlines and also their schoolwork will give them the tools necessary to stay organized as they navigate college!

The planner will also help them learn important time management skills that will be essential in college and work. Providing them with these planners will be a simple yet effective tools to teach them the skills necessary to keep track of important dates and events that will certainly help shape their future! We hope to include these planners in the students' graduation care packages we are preparing for them as we say goodbye and help them enter their new journey.
