My Students

All of my students are diverse and quirky, focused and energetic, studious and creative. They come from a variety of different ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds and circumstances and have a wide range of interests. They're ridiculously well rounded for teenagers!

One of the most exciting about my students is how passionately and empathetically they approach their history education.

They have so many questions about the depth of history and have a desire to understand it in all of its complexities.

My Project

I teach an exceptionally diverse student population and am constantly working to make sure that my students have opportunities to identify their own demographics represented in our course material. This is a constant rewarding process of revision and reflection.

One of the current steps we're taking to make sure our students can find themselves in history is to diversify the contents of our classroom history library.

Having access to a variety of narratives and perspectives will allow my students to better connect to historical content and also increase the rigour of their study of history as they are pushed to consider multiple perspectives on the same topics.
