My Project

Floor spots allow students to have an established structure in the music room. The last few years, I have used sticker spots that have to be replaced every couple of months. 60% of my student population has Autism Spectrum Disorder and in my experience, not having a steady structure in place leads to dysregulation. The purchase of a classroom carpet will allow for consistency in the music classroom and a sense of security for all students. I also have students who have sound sensitivity and are overstimulated in my classroom. I currently have 3 noise cancelling headphones, but it's never enough! Additional headphones will allow for all students to feel supported in my classroom environment.

My students deserve to have a learning space that supports their spatial and aural needs.

The products I have selected will help with maintenance of the rug and cleaning existing musical instruments on a daily basis. I have selected the rhythm handbells /deskbells because students with a variety of needs have access to them. I have students who are developing their fine gross motor skills and this adaptive instrument will not only support this development, but also allow them to safely explore the instrument in an accessible way.

Lastly, I've listed goldfish to always have snacks in the music room. There are times that our afterschool program does not have snacks for the children and I need to be able to provide my students in afterschool chorus with a snack before we sing.
