Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is full of fun, dedicated students who are passionate for more than just literacy and math. From the arts to sports, our students crave opportunities to try new experiences.

We are a Title I school that does not have enough funding to provide students for all of the experiences that they deserve.

We have been providing students with an incredible curriculum from Carnegie Hall which includes the students participating in three concerts at Carnegie Hall. Unfortunately, we lost the funding this year.

My Project

This project will help out students participate in Carnegie Hall's Musical Explorers and Link Up programs. In the Musical Explorers program for grades K-2, students learn music from other cultures, identify and play a variety of instruments, study different composers and compose their own music. In Link Up, grades 3-5 students learn how to play the recorder, learn how to read music, and learn how to compose and improvise their own music.

In the years that we have had the Musical Explorers and Link Up programs at my school, I have seen my students' love and interest for music grow.

By being exposed to music from around the world, they learn about different cultures and learn to appreciate similarities and differences among us.
