My Students

My students fill my heart with laughter, they are smart and endearing, I absolutely love how they have a passion for learning. There is this special child (I will call him Ricky), I am so impressed with the work he does, when I first met Ricky, he was always declaring Ms. Perryman I hate reading and he really did, sometimes he used to cry when I was making them read a chapter book. I honestly believe he hated me for making him read but I would always say to him. ‘Reading is the key to your success’. This went on for months, I felt like I was fighting a battle with this kid but every day I will sing the same tune to all of them that I work with. Now I can honestly say that when we meet, I don’t have to say one word to Ricky about reading, once all of his work is completed, he goes and gets a book and starts reading. Does he likes reading now? Maybe, maybe not, but he understands the importance of reading and that is the most important thing to me.

My Project

Several of our students are visual learners. Having a device, students would be able to view images, reflect and think about the images they are seeing while learning. The device will help student develop the knowledge and skills to analyze and evaluate visual texts and multimedia texts that use visuals. It will also help students acquire information and appreciate ideas and experiences visually communicated by others. Due to the fact that most students are from low-income households, they are deprived of having some necessary tools to work with such as electronic devices. With this being available to them, students will be able to use this device during one on one sessions on a daily basis.
