My students are energetic and eager to learn. They come in every day ready to take on the challenge of new tasks and skills to be mastered. They get excited when we play learning games or engage in any kind of hands-on activities. They especially love using technology throughout the day. We have various online reading and math programs that move students forward with differentiated instruction. Each student is working on the specific skills that he or she needs to master. With many of these online resources, it is as though students have their own personal tutor with a tailor-made learning path just for them.
Most of my students live in poverty and face many challenges at home, making it difficult to fit in time for independent reading or homework.
Most, if not all, of their learning needs to take place at school. We work hard to fit as much into each day as possible. The students want to succeed in reaching their goals, and are excited to graph their progress as it moves upwards! They are wiling to help and encourage each other, and also enjoy some friendly competition at times.
All students at my school are required to spend time daily working in online tutorial programs for math and reading. My students struggle to hear these online lessons, books, and learning games because our headsets are old and falling apart! They were flimsy and cheaply made. We have had to throw most of them away because they no longer worked at all. Students either have to wait for someone else to finish using a headset or just turn their volume down and lean in to try and hear.
With these sturdy, kid-friendly headsets, all of the students will be able to hear their own online lessons clearly, while not having to listen to others' lessons at the same time!
Students who are working on other assignments off line will also be able to focus much better without all the computer noise in the background.
