I am a reading specialist, and I love that my students are eager to learn to read! I teach primarily K-2 students. I work with students each day on the basic building blocks of reading such as phonics and phonemic skills that will help my students decode words and read books. I love seeing the excitement and enthusiasm as my students grow their reading skills!
In the first years of school, students need to have a solid foundation in decoding skills.
Decodable books will allow my students to apply the decoding skills they are learning in a meaningful context. Building on these decoding skills over time with decodable books will help my students become fluent, successful readers.
