This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are learning to be environmental detectives in our biology class. This semester they are designing experiments to study the causes, impacts, and solutions to air pollution. Air pollution can be tricky to measure as it is, for the most part, invisible.

That is why having meters such as the ones included in this project can help my students quantify the amount of air pollution (particularly Particulate Matter 2.5).

Students will use these meters to measure pollution in our classroom, in their homes, and outside in different locations to see the variation in air pollution throughout their daily environments. We will then compare these to the published air pollution values from around the world. Thank you in advance for giving my students this opportunity to do real and meaningful science that is relevant to their lives and health!
