My Project

Each year, for the past few years, we've been able to send home summer learning bags for my students to help them to hold onto the speech and language skills they've worked so hard to build over the school year. With these summer learning bags, my students would be able to practice their newly learned language skills over the summer months.

This project means my students would be able to read new books or to be read new books that have their favorite characters (Curious George, Bluey, Elephant & Piggie, and Paw Patrol) in them.

They will continue to practice their reading skills and understanding of stories while being able to read their favorite stories with their families.

Having these books available to students will help build their at-home library. Students will be able to practice answering "wh" questions, develop new vocabulary, finding their speech sounds in text and expand their language, while exploring these new books.

Through another project, we will hopefully able to put together craft materials and puppets to help my students develop their language skills. These bags also include parent information sheets, with activities they can do, with these books and materials. Through this project, they will be able to expand this vocabulary development through their love of books. These bags can travel with them over the summer and allow families to read them with their students whenever is best for them!
