This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are enthusiastic English language learners that need a few tools to help them stay on track. 100% of them receive free lunch. They come to school full of enthusiasm, but they need even the most basic supplies, like pens, pencils, and notebooks. Many of them work after school to support their families. Still, they participate in a wide-range of extra curricular activities to extend their learning and experiences.

Our school has a great track record of helping these students graduate with success; however, we have limited resources and do not always have the means to purchase essential tools and enhancements for our students to make them successful.

My Project

My basketball team has not practiced in over a year due to COVID. We are now able to get back on the court, and we need a few tools to help us build skills for the future. My players have not had much formal training in fundamental skills; they mostly learned to play pick-up basketball. We have limited practice time and space and must practice efficiently to develop skills while preparing to play a competitive season.

With this equipment, my players will be able to improve their technique in fundamentals such as dribbling and shooting.

We will put it to use immediately, as the fall sports season is nearly underway. Your help would be greatly appreciated.
