I am a Kindergarten teacher in Staten Island. Our school is culturally mixed, welcoming children of several different nationalities. 40% of our enrollment receive free or reduced lunch. As different as all my students are, they have one thing in common: they ALL love to discover and experiment. I would love to see my students have an opportunity to strengthen their scientific skills and use their natural curiosity to make discoveries. Lakeshore Learning has a hands-on Science Learning Center Set that would afford my students the opportunity to give greater depth and breadth to their classroom discussions and writing. The Science centers give practice in the following areas: Physical properties of objects • Changes in living things • Major structures of plants/animals • Primary/secondary colors • Changes in weather & seasons • Healthy food choices I really feel that at the early childhood stage that hands-on experimentation is important, and that these centers would be a great addition to my classroom. Please give this proposal serious thought. Thank you in advance!
