My Students

It is no secret that children learn by moving around and exploring their surroundings. We see this all of the time in babies crawling. However, the school system stifles this instinct by confining our children to rows of desks and seats. We tell our students to "sit down, be still, don't tap on the desk", hindering them from being their creative selves. My goal is to do a complete re-haul on seating in my classroom. I have already purchased comfy chairs, a few yoga balls and milk crate seats. However, I need your help to close the gap. Still recovering from Hurricane Harvey, I want to provide my students with an uplifting learning environment. Flex seating will restore some of that freedom that our traditional classroom has taken away. In a society that has an increase in attention disorders, studies show that flex gives kids an outlet for their fidgeting.

We would also love to utilize technology in our classroom however, we currently do not have access!

Unfortunately, we do not have any access to computers, iPads, tablets, etc. We are unable to do any research, complete minimal stations and this is putting my kids at a disadvantage.

My Project

The iPads will go to great use in my classroom. There are a wealth of Web 2.0 tools that can be utilized from bell to bell instruction. This includes Padlet, Powtoons, Coggle, Plickers, CK12, Sceencast-o-matic, Prezi, Voki, Wordle, blogging iMovie, Canva, and much more! Interaction with these tools will help my students become global learners and enable them to mastery content quicker.

The iPads will be used to promote collaboration, creativity, and communication among my students.

My students get excited about learning when they are able to use technology, especially if they are able to be creative and own their own learning. The iPads and Headphones will create an environment where student engagement increases because my students have the opportunity to participate in hands on/interactive activities with the iPads.

The cricut will allow the students to design and print their own creations while we complete long-term, in class projects.
