My Students

I teach first grade in a K-8 language immersion school in which students learn the curriculum in either French, Chinese, or German. Not only are the students learning a new language, but they are also learning about the world! Students are exposed to various cultures, customs, traditions, and language on a daily basis.

The language immersion program is a wonderful way to open students' horizons about the world!

Teaching is a big passion of mine, and I love seeing my students blossom and achieve their goals. I provide a nurturing, safe, loving classroom where students can feel comfortable to learn and grow in their education and character. I personally believe that if they are given love, attention, encouragement, and inspiration, they can become successful in anything.

My students work hard and are eager to learn through engaging, meaningful activities and use their creativity to apply what they have learned. I teach my students social, emotional, and academic skills through play with stuffed animals. My students are in a Personalized Learning environment, in which they complete differentiated tasks at their own pace, take ownership of their work, and reflect on their learning process.

My Project

I am teaching in a brand new school, in which my first grade students learn the curriculum and a new language in a French Immersion classroom setting. It can be challenging to start a new classroom with limited resources.

I love teaching with stories and books.

I will use these books to teach my students French vocabulary such as colors, seasons, home responsibilities, family, and emotions. The phrases in the books are simple to help students better understand and learn the language, and the pictures are vivid and colorful for students to refer as visual aids. The books will be used in a whole group setting and students will be able to read them with their peers or independently. These books will not only help my students to learn French vocabulary, but they will also learn to read in a new language.
