This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Reading opens the doors to boundless opportunities. Growing up in an inner-city school, where the vast population is Latino and is living in poverty sets up many students for a bleak future.

In order to foster change in our society, we know that we need to create literate students who can become contributing members of society.

At our school, we believe that all of our students can and will achieve, and we know that literacy is critical for this to occur which is why we are doing all we can to bridge the reading gap that currently exist for our English Leaners. We are not okay with the data that we have, and are doing all we can to combat the Lexile scores we see.
