My Project

Taking an AP course as a freshman in high school is challenging. Most 9th graders struggle to adjust to the rigors of high school, but add a college level course on top of that and the stress can be overwhelming.

Mental health and academic success go hand-in-hand.

I would like to create a calming corner in my room where students can relax, take a break from the stress of class, focus on their breathing, and get themselves centered again, so they can focus on being academically successful.

Beanbag chairs and light filters will create a calming, comfortable place for students to rest. The lava lamps will give students something to focus on as they are working on their breathing. Stress balls add to the calming factor and help students remember to breathe.
