My Students

As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.

This is the first year the students at my school have music class, so I am trying my best to make it a great experience for them.

I want music class to be the best part of my student's day!

My Project

My students need xylophones! Students can learn a variety of skills from playing barred instruments. I want to incorporate Orff methodologies into my lessons and I can't do that without barred instruments. My students will learn how to read music with help from a music stand, and how to produce a beautiful tone on the instruments. They will learn to keep the beat and play in time with their classmates with the mallets. They will learn patience and team work. Glockenspiels are a fantastic resource for elementary school music classrooms. I want my students to be able to learn how to play a simple instrument and be able to play in an ensemble with their classmates. I know that my students will benefit from these resources.
