My Students
We have one of the top performing elementary schools in our district. Our students are diverse in population: almost half being from bilingual homes including Hispanic, Hindi, Lao, Korean, Chinese, Hmong, Filipino, Arabic, Indian, African-American, mixed European and Caucasian. Along with diverse cultural influences our students are split between the city where they live, and the school district which they attend, making a complex local political system for them to wade through.
Serving their educational needs is a challenge and joy all at once.
Music is the common ally in their education and home life.
My Project
What is "good" music in the mind of a student? Something with a good Beat! The Modern recording industry uses small beat making equipment to design and record the popular music we listen to across multiple genres. Our students work hard to write and record their own original educational songs from all core subjects. Many include rapping and music that may not need traditional instruments. This is where the Native Instruments Machine will fill in for our creative endeavors.
This equipment will allow our students to create inspiring beats for their own music from scratch.
Native Instruments has already been gracious enough to donate their software to our school that will be used by this equipment so we are half way to our goal. We hope you will continue to grow our music program and enrich our students lives by aiding us in this project!
