This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember in middle school of having the same old fitness routine that consist of only push-ups, crunches, and running laps? Do you remember having options in your PE classes? Most of us do not, but I would love to change that for my students!

I teach 250 students that attends a middle school in the Bronx, NY; most my students live in a high poverty areas.

We have a very small gym and my students do not have room to run or play sports such as basketball, Frisbee and etc. My students and I are very limited to what we can do with the space so I try to accommodate with other fun activities like zumba, dance, and Cardio.

My Project

This year I would love to teach my students different activities to stay fit. With the equipment I have wish for, my students learn how to use resistance bands and stability balls to help improve healthy living. I would love to create a "Workout Wednesday's"... I will set stations with different activities using this equipment. Students will then record their data and set personal fitness goals. Exercising daily will improve my students confidence and self-esteem.

Funding my project will give my students a chance to exercise safety in variety ways.

Many of many students are overweight; there are only fast food restaurants surrounding the school, with this equipment I will be given the chance to encourage good health. Please help me achieve my goal in the gymnasium and I will teach my students how to create and achieve their fitness goals for everyday living.
