My Students

I have a new group of students this year who are eager to learn! Now that my previous class has graduated, it's time to get to know a new group who will be in the classroom with me for the next three years of elementary school. While we are all excited about the transition, I want to make sure that I am meeting my students based on their needs.

We're located in the District of Columbia and my students love everything about learning!

So far, I have been able to provide them with all of the resources needed to excel. Although I am transitioning schools, I still feel the need to provide the same resources. That's why I am in need of a Sign Language program that will help me to communicate with my incoming students who are hard of hearing.

My Project

Ed2Go is a website that provides certificates in disciplines from accredited universities and colleges. On the site is a course that is designed for me to assist my students who are hard of hearing. By enrolling in the 6 week course entitled, Discover Sign Language, I am able to learn how to communicate with students with auditory deficits so that I am able to communicate effectively and continue to provide rigorous lessons. By offering this course through an online platform, I am able to pace myself according to my work schedule. Talk about an opportunity designed for a teacher in mind! I am provided with six weeks of individualized instruction in total silence. All of which will provide me with the real-life environment of a student unable to hear, or hear well.

I want to be able to communicate with all of my students, not just a small few.

Participation in this course will allow me that privilege. It will also allow me an opportunity to not only communicate with students in need of alternate interpretation, but adults as well. Upon completion, I will have a certificate in Sign Language. Additionally, I will have the ability to understand, receptively and expressively, ways of communicating with students with auditory weaknesses. I am hoping you see the importance of this course as it will allow me to reach all students.
