Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is a Title 1 Public School located in the South Bronx. We provide high-quality Early Childhood care and education to children in our 3K classroom.

Our students are curious, smart, loving, and creative individuals, who learn best through play and exploration.

My Project

This is our student's first time in school. I would like their academic journey to begin with a strong foundation; in Early Childhood Education this mean through hands-on learning and play. Having these items in the classroom will provide daily opportunities for students to build on their current knowledge. For example the paint, clay, natural wood pieces, playdough, yard, glue, foam, cotton and gems will be placed throughout the classroom and some will be send home so that students can explore and create multidimensional pieces of art. The multicultural baby dolls and toy figures will hopefully help our students develop awareness, compassion, tolerance and appreciation for the multi-faceted world around them. The busy boards, wooden tracing boards, building tiles and the learn to dress toys, will help students develop their fine-motor skills (muscles on the hand) which will help them when they begin to write.

Some of these items will be used to create "fun bags" for students to take home and use with their families, building a bridge between home and school.
